We worden naar het kantoortje buiten de stad gebracht, waar we onze uitrusting; helm, wetsuit, zwemvest en waterschoentjes, krijgen. Dan rijden 20 min naar een kloof aan de voet van de Misti vulkaan op de Chile rivier. Na wat simpele instructies kunnen we van start. Een jongen in een kajak vaart met ons mee om filmpjes te maken en te assisteren als dat nodig is.&nbsp; Het is ook geschikt voor kinderen. De rivier is op een paar stroomversnellingen na niet al te wild en we genieten volop van de natuur. De tocht is 6 km en we zijn ongeveer 1 h 30 in het water en soms tot klasse 4.&nbsp; Totaal zijn we 3 h weg van ons hotel. We kleden ons weer om en zijn op tijd voor de lunch weer terug in Arequipa.
