Chauchilla ligt op 28 kilometer van Nazca, in een droge woestijn en is een pre-Inca begraafplaats. Jarenlang werd deze plek ontheiligd door grafrovers en schatzoekers, op zoek naar de rijkdommen die met de mummies begraven werden. De graftombes werden vernietigd, en alle schatten \u2013 keramiek, waardevolle stoffen, gouden en zilveren objecten \u2013 meegenomen.&nbsp;Alleen de mummies bleven achter, verspreid over de woestijn, die ervoor zorgde dat ze verder intact bleven.
