We rijden in 1 h naar<strong> Tiwanaku&nbsp;<\/strong> over een mooie route met besneeuwde bergtoppen over het hoge Plateau.&nbsp;&nbsp;De Tihuanacu \u2013 cultuur is een mix van verschillende godsdiensten en waren de voorgangers van de bekende Inka-kultuur. Ze ontwikkelden de astronomische, mathematische en religieuze kennis, maar ook hoe de metaal smeedkunst en de landbouw. Het rijk strekte zich uit over half Bolivia, zuidelijk Peru, Noord \u2013 Chili en Noordwest \u2013 Argentini\u00eb. Het is op 71 km vanaf La Paz gelegen en bereikbaar langs een geasfalteerde weg. Opvallend&nbsp; is&nbsp; de&nbsp; lange&nbsp; periode&nbsp; waarin&nbsp; de&nbsp; Tihuanaco \u2013 cultuur&nbsp; heeft&nbsp; bestaan.&nbsp; De oudste vondsten dateren uit 2000 voor Christus. Het hoogtepunt van de beschaving lag tussen 100 en 700 na Christus. De meest bekende constructie hier is de zonnepoort, <strong>gehouwen uit \u00e9\u00e9n blok andesiet.<\/strong> Het museum is sinds enkele jaren volledig vernieuwd met de grote monoliet. Nadien rijden we terug naar La paz.
