Sombreros Sucre Factory and Peasant Market
Not on Saturdays and Sundays
private tour 3 hours
Sucre is not only famous for its colonial buildings; the city also is famous for its chocolate (try it!) and its excellent hats that are produced here.
The guide will collect you with their car at 9:00 a.m. from your hotel or hostel to firstly visit the Hat Factory.
You will be surprised to see the old steam machines used on the production line and the factory workers using them, you will feel that you have traveled back in time. The hats that leave the factory are exported to other countries in Latin America, even the United States and Europe. The factory has gained various international prizes for the good quality of their products.
At the end of the factory tour, you can buy a beautiful Chuquisaqueño hat choosing from the great variety exhibited in their showroom. After, we go directly to the ever popular Peasant Market. The area where we find the market covers more than a hundred blocks and here we see the people who make their purchases, the well-off alongside the poor.
There is a section where they sell fruit, also coca leaves, items used in witchcraft rituals, antiques and every other thing you could imagine
