Day 1

Arrival at Rafael Núñez airport in Cartagena. A driver will be waiting for you at the exit to take you to the hotel, a short 20-minute drive.

Cartagena de Indias is by far the most beautiful city in the Caribbean. Its centuries-old walled-in city center, that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, seems to have been made for people to wander around for hours. It’s maze of colorful colonial houses on narrow streets and alleys ending in shadowy squares where, in the afternoon, street musicians and dancers show the best of the swinging Caribbean culture. But there is also plenty to do outside the city walls. The archipelago Islas del Rosario is at an hour’s boat ride from the port city. And of course they have the pearl white beaches and turquoise-colored sea that the Caribbean is famous for. Even closer are the beaches of Cartagena, where you can end the day with a swim in the sea and by watching the enchanting sunset.

Casa Mara 2 Nights Casa Mara is a colonial style hotel located in a building from 1991 in the Getsemaní neighborhood, in the historic

center of Cartagena. The hotel has comfortable air-conditioned rooms, a patio with a small pool, a rooftop terrace and a spa where you can enjoy a nice massage treatment.

Day 2

Note: You have to be present at the port of La Bodeguita at 8:00 am. From the port to the island by boat it will take about 45 minutes.

In the morning you will be picked up from the hotel to be taken to the port from where you will go to the Rosario Islands by boat. Once there, you can relax on the private beach. There are several optional activities, such as snorkeling, which can be organized on site. The typical Colombian lunch is included as well as towel service. In the afternoon, you will return in the same boat to Cartagena where the driver will be waiting to take you to the hotel.

The Islas del Rosario The Islas del Rosario archipelago is located 35 kilometers southwest of Cartagena and is made up of 27 small coral islands and some islets. The archipelago is surrounded by coral reefs, where the color of the sea is a combination of turquoise and cerulean colors. This entire area has been named Parque Nacional Natural Corales del Rosario y de San Bernardo.

Day 3

A driver will pick you up from your hotel to take you to Palomino (+/- 6 hours). During the drive you will pass through Barranquilla and Santa Marta and you will also have views of the Caribbean Sea and Tayrona Park.

Palomino

The coastal village of Palomino is a perfect starting point to visit the beaches of Tayrona Park. The mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta are also just around the corner. This carefree, little village on the road between Santa Marta and Riohacha was discovered by hippies and backpackers and has, in recent years, become one of Colombia’s most popular holiday destinations. Tourism has remained small-scale, however, and the village still has a very laid-back atmosphere. The village is located on a long and wide beach, has beautiful sunsets and there is always a coconut seller around for some refreshments. The sometimes wild waves at Palomino are ideal for surfers. Swimming is not always possible, so pay very good attention when entering the water.

Note: Make sure you bring enough cash with you because the only ATM in Palomino ATM does not always work. The yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for this area.

Ecohotel Playa La Roca is located on the outskirts of Palomino and has direct access to the beach and there is continuous restaurant service. The hotel has a wet area and a swimming pool. All rooms have a fan and a private bathroom

Tip:     Tubing Hotel La Roca/ optional
