Colca canyon 3 days with options to do walks
This is an amazing tour, possible in shared or private. For 3 days 2 nights in the colca canyon of Arequipa. On day 2 you can choose to have a free day or to do optional excursions in the canyon( look for optional excursions and walks below )
FIRST DAY AREQUIPA / COLCA.
We begin with the pick up from your respective hotels around 7:30 – 8:00 am, to go out to the spectacular Colca Valley, we will drive along the slopes of the «Chachani volcano» arriving at the «Salinas and Aguada Blanca» national reserve where we can appreciate the South American animals such as vicuñas, llamas, alpacas. We will continue with our journey and we will make a technical stop of 30 min. Approx. In “Patahuasi” to optionally taste hot drinks such as coca, muña, chachacoma, (Inca mate) to prevent altitude sickness. Then we will go to «Tocrapampa» to be able to appreciate natural wetlands and we will see the high Andean and migratory birds, we will also stop at the «Viewpoint of the volcanoes» (Patapampa at 4910 m.a.s.l.) view of the «volcanic mountain ranges».
We continue the trip to the town of Chivay, capital of the Colca Valley, for lunch and distribution at the respective hotels. In the afternoon we will visit the town of Coporaque, cradle of the Collagua culture and walk for about 1 hour. towards the archaeological site of San Antonio. Pre-Inca and Inca tombs of Yuraq Q’aqa, then you will be taken to the thermal baths of Umaru or Sallihua. In he evening (optional), visit to a tourist restaurant where you can see representation of some typical Colca dances
SECOND DAY COLCA / CRUZ DEL CONDOR.
In the morning, after breakfast we will go to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint. Passing through the town of Yanque, at the main square every morning you can see an exhibition of local crafts and the representative dance of Colca el “wititi” declared as cultural and intangible heritage by UNESCO, we continue through the magical valley passing through landscapes impressive and traditional villages, arriving at 8:15 am approx. to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, where we will be waiting for the imposing flight of the condors, huge Andean birds in danger of extinction that are the symbol of the Andes Mountains and the Andean culture, the view from the viewpoint allows us to appreciate by complete the dimension of the canyon considered one of the deepest in the world (4160mts).
During the return, we will make stops at the Antahuilque, Huayrapunku, and Choquetico viewpoints, places from which we will appreciate the Valley in its maximum splendor and the pre-Inca terraces that until today are used for the planting of grains and other crops. Finally, we will arrive at Chivay, a place where we will have alternatives for our lunch. Then you will be transferred to your hotel and having the afternoon free.
THIRD DAY COLCA / CRUZ DEL CONDOR.
Have the morning off
12:00 pm you will be picked up to take lunch ( not included ). You have the option of returning to Arequipa or you could travel to Puno.
To travel to Puno, we can arrange in private or shared bus

These alternatives are made for clients who have an extra day in the Colca Valley and want to spend time in the surroundings of the Colca Valley or share a day with the Colca locals and their daily life.
First Option:
WALK IN THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL CENTER FROM UYU UYU
Departure from the town of Chivay at the agreed time, towards the town of Coporaque on the move to visit the Colonial church called “Santiago Apostol” and the chapel of “San Sebastián”, then we go to the Ocolle viewpoint, where you can get a view of an amphitheater of terraces made by the Incas. The next stop will be at the Sifon or Chininia bridge, to be able to appreciate the COLCAS, old warehouses of products suspended under the Chininia bridge (Sifón bridge), we continue with the tour, we arrive MAUCALLACTA DE UYO UYO, where the walk begins, which is an ascent 600 m, along a path, with 2 stops to rest and continue the path to reach the Archaeological complex of Uyu Uyu. Finally we will return to the town of Chivay at 5:00 pm.
Optional: You can enter to bathe and enjoy the thermal medicinal waters of «La Calera».

Second option
CHIMPA FORTRESS WALK
This hike is worth the view of the canyon in another perspective, without tourists.
The Chimpa Fortress was a military installation that allowed the Collaguas to have a wide observation of the valley and thus protect themselves from their enemies. Its strategic location allows us to enjoy the view of terraces and towns that are located on both sides of the canyon (one of the few points in Colca with these views).
For this excursion, you will be picked up at 6:00 am from the hotel to go to the town of Madrigal (3,262 m.a.s.l.) at a distance of 1 1/2 hour from Chivay. The route not only brings us closer to the millennial past of the Colca Valley, but also offers us exceptional views of the landscape, the platform systems and the agriculture of the towns of Ichupampa, Lari, Madrigal; and the Colca river. During the journey you can observe the flora and fauna of the area, on the way we will have a brief visit to the temple of Ichupampa, also to the Temple of lari, known as the Cathedral of Colca.
We arrive with our transport to where the road ends with the junction towards the road to the Chimpa Fortress. The uphill walk lasts approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes. On the way we will observe a Pre-Inca cemetery, as well as litho-models and of course we will have a magnificent view of the deep part of the canyon. On the way back we will enjoy the terraces and how the residents works

Third option
COLCAS PUMUNUTA
Pumunuta is made up of three large caves, which house containers made of mud and straw. These ancient containers were intended to store and preserve the grains previously and in detail selected. Some of these pieces are still intact or in good condition.
For this excursion we will pick you up from the hotel to go to the town of Tuti (3,850 m.a.s.l.) at a distance of 25 minutes from Chivay. The tour not only brings us closer to the millennial past of the Colca Valley, but also offers us exceptional views of the landscape, the platform systems and the local agriculture of the towns of Tuti and Canocota as well as the Colca River. During the journey you can observe the flora and fauna of the area.
To get to Pumunuta, a walk is made from the town of Tuti, the entire walk lasts approximately 2 hours in each direction, it presents a moderate level of effort – difficult (reaching 4,250 meters above sea level, as the highest point). We will walk along a pre-Inca path that takes us to some old grain storage centers or colcas. These deposits were built by the Collaguas, a pre-Inca culture of the valley, eminently agricultural and partly responsible for the beautiful cultivation platforms that can be seen in the Colca.

Fourth Option:
CANOCOT WALK
This hike is 3.5 km. We leave the town of Chivay at the agreed time towards the town of Canocota with the mobility, upon arrival we start a walk along a path that will take us from the town of Canocota to the thermal baths “La Calera” of Chivay. First you go up a 700 m path. approx. Until you reach a natural viewpoint where you can see the “Huaynalima” Canyon, you descend to the canyon by a path, through which you can appreciate the flora of the place such as Queñuales and other types of vegetation, you will also appreciate the Colca River. We will continue along a flat path, appreciating very interesting landscapes over a canyon and the Colca river. The walk lasts approximately 3 to 4 hours.
Mobility waits at the “la Calera” thermal baths to return to Chivay and drop them off at their respective Hotel.
Optional: You can enter to bathe and enjoy the thermal medicinal waters of «La Calera».

Fifth option
CHOQOLAQA FULL DAY
Choqolaqa, the so-called Antigua Arequipa, would be the product of the disobedience of the ancient Arequipa towards the apus, which is why it was petrified and, even now, an entire city can be seen in the rock formations.
For this excursion we will pick you up at 5:00 am from the hotel to go to the small and picturesque town of Tisco (4,188 m.a.s.l.) at a distance of 2 hours from Chivay, the tour offers us exceptional views of the landscape and local agriculture.
Arriving in Tisco we will visit its beautiful ashlar church and the Samacota lagoon, home to Huallatas, birds native to the Peruvian highlands. After this visit we will go to Choqolaqa, we will arrive and start our walk to the old Arequipa or Stone City, at this point we will be at 5200 m.s.n.m. What is particular about this area is that mysticism caused by the similarities of the stone figures with women, angels, seals, elephants, condors, castles, towers and streets, everything that our imagination allows us and wander. We will stay in this place for about three hours walking and taking funny photos. In the place we will eat our lunchbox
On the way back we will make some stops, as well as a beautiful view of the enchanted Castles of Callalli, then we will make a short walk to the Mollepunko Caves, where we will observe cave paintings, a sample of the life of the first settlers of the Arequipa region, to pass to the beautiful stone town of Sibayo. Finally we will return to Chivay at 5:00 pm approx.
