How do we work
In our packet, you’ll travel all by yourself. Southamerica planet will take care of you. We’ll reserve all your hotels and transport. When you arrive in Peru you’ll find in your first hotel an envelope with all the vouchers for hotels, buses and excursions. You’ll do the excursions in International groups with English speaking guides.
Our local agent also arranges your transfers and gives you the bus tickets to go from A to B, like this, you’ll travel around by yourself but without worries, all arranged through Southamerica planet. If there are any problems, you can always find support by contacting our office in Cusco or Lima!

Day 1: Lima
You’ll arrive at Lima airport in the morning. Someone from Southamerica planet will pick you up from the airport and bring you to your first hotel in Lima, Miraflores.
First day in Lima.( if you arrive in the evening, its 1 more day and night in Lima)
Today you’ll have a half day city tour in Lima. The tour begins with a visit to historical downtown Lima, also known as “the City of the Kings”. The stops include the Main Square of Lima, upon which sits the Government Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop’s Palace, and the City Hall. Next on the itinerary is a visit to the Santo Domingo Convent. You can also drive through Miraflores and San Isidro. In the afternoon you can visit Colonial Barranco, museo national de Arqueologia, in Pueblo Libre or Larco museo” the best museum in Peru” . This by yourself or you can walk at the seafront in Miraflores. The city tour includes an English speaking guide, it takes 3 h. The tour starts and finish in your hotel.

Day 2: Trujillo
Today you will take transfer to the airport and fly to Trujillo, early in the morning. Transfer to the hotel in Trujillo.
This day we’ll have the excursion, Chan Chan, the capital of the Chimú Empire. It extends over more than 18 km2. The Tschudi Palace, located in the southwest of Chan Chan, is one of the most well-preserved and well-decorated palaces. It is decorated with geometric shapes and low-relieves animal draws. You’ll also visit the ceremonial places, the grain stores and the cemetery. It’s a huge urban complex made of a kind of mud called adobe. The greatness and perfection of this city is expressed in its high decorated walls, long passages, ceremonial squares, palaces, workshops and warehouses. There was room for 100,000 people, virtually a city-state. After this we’ll drive to the pyramids of “Arco Iris” ,also known as “Huaca El Dragon”, built by the Chimu culture between the 11th and the 15th century and surrounded by a 6 meters high wall and “Huaca de la Luna and Sol”, here the archaeologists still make new discoveries every day.

Day 3 : Chiclayo
This morning we’ll arrange your early transfer to Trujillo and from here, a local bus takes you for about 3,5 h drive to Chiclayo. Tour Sipan

If your interest towards the Moche culture is much bigger, you can extend your stay in Chiclayo and visit the next day the beautiful museum of Sican. Or you can go to Chachapoyas with a night bus. Here you can visit the amazing fortress of “Kuelap”.
Day 4 Paracas
Around 7 am or 1.30 pm you’ll take the luxury Crus del Sur bus to Paracas. It’s about 4 h drive. Your hotel is close to the harbor. You can walk on the boulevard and eat the delicious fresh fish. Your hotel has a swimming pool.

Day 5 : Nasca
This morning at around 8 am you’ll take a tour by speedboat to the Ballestas Islands. Paracas is known for its extraordinary marine wild life and wonderful natural setting. You’ll enjoy a boat tour, lasting approximately 2 hours, around the Ballestas Islands. Here you can observe countless species of birds, also the world’s largest sea lion colony. You can also view seals, penguins, turtles, albatrosses, pelicans, and seagulls. After this excursion we have a private car for about 3 h to Nazca. Along the way we stop at a Pisco brewery in Ica and we visit Huacachina, the oase in the desert, where you can do optional the amazing sand dunes buggy tour. From here we drive direct to Nazca. Day 6: Nasca
After breakfast you will be picked up at your hotel for your journey to the mysterious Nazca Lines! You’ll board a small aircraft. During your adventure, you’ll see first hand several famous line figures, including the spider, monkey, astronaut, flamingo, parrot & condor among many others. Why were these figures created? Do they have an astrological or religious purposes? After your flight you’ll visit Chauchilla. The area is named after the Nazca civilization that flourished there between 300BC and 800AD, a Pre-Inca cemetery located 28km South of Nazca. The cemetery has exhibits of some well-preserved mummies, textiles and other artifacts, saved from decay over the centuries by dry desert conditions. At night you’ll take the luxury night bus for 10 h to Arequipa. The bus leaves at 10 PM.

Day 7 :Arequipa
Early in the morning you’ll arrive in Arequipa, the white city and its famous historical downtown. You’ll visit the Plaza de Armas, the Church of the Company and the Church of San Francisco. The highlight of Arequipa is the 16th century Santa Catalina Convent. This beautiful complex of plazas and buildings is remarkably intact and remained closed to the outside world until 1970. You’ll also visit the star of Arequipa “The Mummy Juanita “. In the evening you may choose to dine at one of Arequipa’s many fine restaurants. Try the amazing alpacca steak.

Day 8 : Arequipa
You’ll have a free day in Arequipa to relax or drink a cup of coffee on one of the nice balconies on the plaza de armas. Or do optional excursions like rafting on Chili river. This is great adventure or you can take the Campina tour with viewpoints over or the reality tour. Here you’ll get to visit the local market, the silar stone works and you can see how the poor Peruvian people survive! Or you can also cycle down volcanoes.

Day 9 : Colca Canyon
After breakfast you’ll be picked up for your journey to the Colca Canyon. It’s a scenic route 165 km from the city of Arequipa. You’ll enjoy beautiful views of the Misti, Chachani and PichuPichu volcanoes as you climb to the Canahuas National Reserve. Along the way, you will pass through Pampas Cañahuas, a plain in the midst of the Aguada Blanca y Salinas National Reserve. Along the way you’ll stop at 3,800m to drink some coca tea to counteract the effects of altitude sickness. As you climb yet further up onto the Altiplano you’ll begin to spot wild vicunas, llamas and guanacos as well as some interesting birdlife on the lakes. After reaching the highest point at about 4,800m you’ll descend a little to the town of Chivay. The Colca Canyon is more than twice as deep as the Grand Canyon, although its incline is much more gradual. Here we’ll stop for lunch. Afterwards, we go to the hotel and in the afternoon we’ll go to the nearby hot-springs, La Calera. 1 night hotel in the small village Chivay, Yanque or coparaque.

Optional :You can take a 3 day Colca Canyon tour, then you’ll walk down in to the canyon, you’ll sleep basic at an oasis. On the next morning you’ll start your early climb to Cabanaconde and from there we’ll take the local bus to chivay, where we change into the bus to Puno for.
Day 10: Colca
This morning you will have an early breakfast at your hotel and set out to the Cruz del Condor look-out point, 60 Km from Chivay, for spectacular views across the canyon. We are looking for the world’s largest bird, the majestic Andean condor, gliding on the thermals that rise up through the canyon. Be sure to bring your camera. On the return to Chivay you’ll make various stops, firstly at the traditional town of Pinchollo with its 1500 year old stone terraces, and later at the view point and the Andean town of Maca. Around 1.30 pm we’ll take the good tourist bus for a 6 hours journey to Puno over the Altiplano. The last part of the day is the drive to Puno. Accommodations for the night in Puno

Day 11 :Puno islands on Titicca
Today you will visit the incredible Lake Titicaca, located some 3,800m above sea level and covering an area of over 8,000 square kilometers. You’ll begin your tour by visiting the fascinating Uros islands, home to the descendants of the pre-Inca Urus people, who continue to live on the floating islands, which are constructed by totoro reeds which grow around the lake. It is said that, when seen from above, the lake looks like a Puma hunting a rabbit. Uros is comprised of about 40 islands, but the total number varies over time. Then we’ll go to Amantania island, where you’ll sleep on the island with a local family, basic but a nice adventure! They’ll treat you as their own children. In the evening you’ll sing and dance with the whole village in local clothes. This option provides a great opportunity to interact with the warm and hospitality of the islanders and to learn about their daily lives. We’ll leave the big luggage in Puno and travel with a day pack.

Day 12: Puno
After breakfast, we’ll leave our local family and go to Taquile Island, another beautiful destination. The island still bears vestiges of a pre-Incan past. There are Aymara Indians. The brightly-colored textiles produced here reflect the inhabitants’ Andean beliefs, myths, and ways of life. After a short but steep climb to the main village you’ll enjoy lunch and spend the afternoon exploring the island and finding out about its people. The islanders are known for the beautiful textiles and garments that they produce, and interestingly the knitting of these garments is done exclusively by men. Boat back to Puno /hotel Puno

Day 13: Cusco
After our breakfast you will be transferred to the bus or train station for your journey to Cusco. During this journey you will enjoy stunning views of beautiful landscapes of the the Andes. We’ll take the direct crus del sur bus for about 6 h. Upon arrival in Cusco, you will be welcomed by Southamerica planet. In the evening there are many excellent restaurants to choose from in Cusco.
Opcional You can take the bus with stops at the La Raya Pass, the Incan archeological site of Raqchi, renowned for its massive temple to the god Viracocha. Next on the itinerary is a stop at the village of Andahuaylillas, where you will see an actual architectural masterpiece: its main church, built in the 17th century, whose finely painted interior walls will astound you.

Day 14 Cusco
In Cusco, where you can do many things this day, you can sleep some time longer. Your afternoon Cusco tour will begin with a visit to the impressive Colonial Cathedral, home to finely carved wooden art pieces and impressive altars, followed by a guided tour of the Korikancha (Temple of the Sun). Later to the outskirts of Cusco, for a tour of the Inca ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Incan fort that guarded the Imperial city. Day 15: Sacred valley
Today we wil visit the sacred valley of the Incas. It is divided by the Urubamba River and protected by towering mountains, like Veronica, Chicon, and Pitusiray, all above 5000 meters. Your first stop is visiting the local market in a small village of Pisac. After lunch you’ll spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the impressive Inca ruins of Ollantaytambo town and ceremonial center, an important archeological site and an Inca stronghold during the Spanish conquest. In the afternoon or evening we wil take the train to Aqua Calientes, this is the village close to Machu Picchu, much warmer than Cusco , we are at the border of the jungle so take mosquito spray with you. Day 16 : Machu Picchu
Today we will leave early on sunrise to the Machu Picchu ruins. You will start with a guided tour of the ruins for 2 h, in which you will learn all about the origins of this archeological wonder with some free time to explore on your own till 12 o’ clock. Because of the new rules, you have to leave machu picchu at midday, to make room for the second afternoon group. Your return train through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to Cusco will depart in the afternoon and arrive in the evening. hotel in Cusco
Early in the morning you will be transported by bus to Machu Picchu citadel, Our bilingual guide will take you throughout the vast ruins for about 2h. After this you have some free time to wander around yourself Machu Picchu is the best known of the Inca ruins, as it is recognized worldwide yet it is not mentioned in any of the writings of the Spanish Conquistadors. It believed to have been constructed around the mid-15th century and was “rediscovered” by American historian Hiram Bingham in 1911. The guided tour of this fascinating place is an inspiring experience. Visit the Main Square, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the Sacred Sun Dial and Burial Grounds. After the excursion you can walk to Inti Punko, the “SUN GATE” to take the famous picture. Than you drive down by bus to the town of Aqua Calientes where we take the afternoon train back direction Cusco.

Day 17 : Cusco
Today you have a free Cuzco day, or optional excursions. You can go rafting on the Urubamba river with scenic views, or you go by with a mountain bike to the salt pans of Maras. Or just visit the local market or Inca museum in Cuzco. Optional tour to Maras salt mines, a typical Peruvian Andean village. It’s a scenic journey with spectacular views of the snow capped mountains. You will visit the ruins of Moray, a series of ancient agricultural terraces laid out in concentric circles. These terraces were built by the Incas and used to test and produce seeds for the empire’s principal crops of maize and potato. The site and science of ancient Inca agriculture is inspiring.
