Salinas Lake Arequipa 1/2 Day
The Salinas tour is highly recommended as it is a salt lagoon and a salt flat unique in Peru, a visit is an unforgettable experience when you come to Arequipa.
This tour is well known by tourists visiting Arequipa, unfortunately there is a big problem of misinformation. Many people confuse the Salinas lagoon with the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National / The difference is very simple, the Salinas lake is a tourist attraction in the national reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, a very important fact to clarify is that the lagoon from Salinas located in the south side of Salinas and Aguada Blanca national park, and we take a dirt road to visit it, which is not the way going to Chivay (Colca Canyon) when we go to Colca canyon, we pass the north side on a paved road. Then when you do the Salinas tour, you will also visit the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, but on the south side, behind the Picchu Picchu Volcano, and we will not take the road that runs on the north side that is behind the Chachani- volcano.
It is a high Andean salty lake that receives the waters of an endorheic basin, located between snow-capped mountains and volcanoes.
